| So, what is the deal with the Fall Visitation program at Va Tech? From what I read on their website, it's meant to be for "underrepresented" (minority), low income, and/or students who will be the first in their family to attend college. But this is the second year that I've known of Caucasian kids who do not meet the above criteria being accepted to VT through this program. Are everyday students from Northern Va using it as a way to get an edge on the thousands of others who will be applying in the coming months? |
| I don't know. Can you post a link? I can tell you that when we toured the admissions director said they do get excited over "first generation" kids who apply. |
| VT accepts 70% of their applicants. It's not that competitive that Caucasian kids from NOVA need to get an edge. |

" being accepted to VT through this program"
What do you mean? It's a visit program. Just because some of the students go who get accepted doesn't mean it was "through" the program. Correlation =/= Causation |
There are on-site application reviews at the visit, and then the kids receive their acceptance letters a few days to a week later. They are receiving their acceptances much, much earlier than anyone else applying to VT will. If they hadn't gone to this program, they would not have received their acceptance letters at this early date. |
