Need Rec for a small playbased preschool in Chevy Chase Area

Anonymous
Can anyone give me a recommendation for a small play based preschool in the Chevy Chase area with a morning 4 year old program. I am looking for something that isn't a huge facility with tons of kids.

St. Columba's isn't too far and it is wonderful.

Depending on what you mean by "huge facility with tons of kids," but we have been very happy with Temple Sinai Nursery School. The classes are relatively small, and the teachers are very well trained (and most have been there for a very long time -- like 15-25 years -- which to me is a really important sign that the school treats the teachers with respect and that they are invested in their jobs and thus in the kids). There are several classes at each level (2 year olds, 3 year olds, 4 year olds), but the individual classes are small, and it doesn't have the feel of a large place. Plus, I think the total number of 4 year old classes is smaller than for the younger kids because more of the students leave for DCPS programs at that age.

FWIW, we are not Jewish, and the school has a mix of Jewish and non-Jewish students.

St. Paul's is quite small.

+1, and also look at CCPC and CCBC

CCPC the classes are small, but the school is big with several classes for each age. Sounds like that is what OP is trying to avoid.

Audubon Nature Preschool has openings for sure in their PM class, and possibly in the AM class as well. They are play-based, small, nature-focused, and wonderful!

Huh? Where are you getting this? There's 2 classes of 2 year olds, 2 classes of 3 year olds, all broken up by age.
