| DH has low volume, All other numbers are good. RE is recommending IUI, but I dont want to waste money that could go for IVF. Ive heard of a few success stories of natural conception resulting in a healthy baby. Anyone had the same issue and had a successful IUI? How many rounds did it take? |
| We're in the same boat. Our RE recommended 3 rounds of IUI before doing IVF. How old are you? That's an important consideration. |
| I have fertility issues that have necessitated IVF in the past, but when trying for #2 all of my tests were clear. At 18 months TTC we decided to go straight to IVF. While waiting to start a cycle, my RE recommended that we do one IUI because our insurance made it really affordable. I was sure it wouldn't work, but figured why not? During the IUI, we discovered a male factor issue. And it worked!!! |
| 7:26 again answering PPs question - both DH and I are mid-30s. |
| At mid 30s, it's worth doing a few rounds of IUI.Your doc recommends it and the savings could be huge. |
| Id go straight to IVF. I don't know one single couple with male factor where IUI had worked. |
| Im only 31. My RE is very confident that it will work, Im just skeptical bc I dont want to waste money that could go toward IVF. |
How much money are you looking at? My IUI cost a total of $550. Well worth it v IVF (which would have been $9,000 + meds). |
|
I had two failed IUI's in March and April then took a break and now going to try again in November - December. If it doesn't work we will move to IVF (like you make factor).
Even all 4 IUI's together will come out cheaper than IVF. Between co-pays and what med each IUI was about $500 while IVF just in medication my best friend paid something like 3-4k and that is without all the other stuff. And if your insurance does not cover it, you pay for it out of pocket and for another friend it came to 20k to buy 3 rounds of IVF (medication costs not included). She tried twice and did not implemented and waiting till May next year to try her last round and moving to Donor Egg if doesn't work. Another friend got pregnant her first try of IUI at 39. Try IUI first I would say, you never know. |
$550? Wow,that's cheap. |
| Worked for us first try. (DH's issue wasn't volume but motility.) Definitely worth a try at your age and at that price. |
Where did you go? Its $345 for the freeze ( RE is recommending frozen sample) and $185 for the insemination |
| My IUIs cost around $1000 each cycle including meds and monitoring. |
Ok what did you guys pay for? All I had to pay for was: - chlomid : ~$20 - trigger shot : ~$30 - co-pays : $35/each visit. I had to go in for blood work and monitoring from Day 9-10 all up to Insemination - my portion for the blood work: $25 Really the biggest expense was the $35 for each visit for 5 days straight which came To ~$175. November IUI will be more expensive because instead of using Clomid I plan on using injectables and my insurance doesn't pay for it, that is ~$200 out of pocket. |
| I'm starting IUI soon. We don't have any male issues but I may not be ovulating or ovulating like I should. |
