Cleaning lady embarrassment. Help!

I didn't get home from work early enough to clean up before the cleaning lady came. She cleaned in an area that I know she probably saw something she shouldn't have. She didn't say anything because she's tactful but I'm honestly so embarrassed!! I want to apologize to her! I added $50 extra to her check today. I'm just scared she's going to judge me or laugh because of what she saw. Help me calm down.

+1 She is cleaning lady. She has either seen it all or expects to see things of that nature. I think you are stressing out too much about it. No need to mention it. If it was that embarrassing don't mention it but just make sure you aren't careless again. You compensated her for any extra cleaning, etc. she had to do. Let it go!

Former "cleaning lady" here.

So, my guess is that it's either drug or sex related. If it's something, let's say, run-of-the mill (a bong? A vibrator? A porn DVD/mag?) my guess is she has run across it in the course of her job in the past. I say this because I did come across at least some of those items while cleaning in the past. I stuck with the job. It really wasn't a huge thing.

If it's something else, I'm not sure what to tell you.

Unless it was something bodily function related--adult diapers or something? In which case, also, she's seen it before.

As a housekeeper in a hotel I did sometimes see something that made me laugh--but not in a mean, malicious way. I mean, some things in life are funny! As long as you like this person and she does a good job, I wouldn't sweat this.

Thanks. It's not really an item you would have to clean but it was in view of one of the areas she cleaned. I can't even tell my closest friend I'm so embarrassed
