Recommend a dustbuster that will last

Anonymous
A year ago, DH and I bought a great hand held vacuum (known as dustbusters when I was a kid). Now the motor lasts about 5-10 seconds before dying. This is when fully charged and even when plugged in. Online searches show this is a common problem with either all dustbusters or at least my model. We need a new one but it needs to last for several years. I've searched Amazon, but most of the reviews are from recent purchasers so it's hard to assess how the vacuum works 2-4 years later. Can anyone recommend a dustbuster that will last several years? Thanks.

What do you want to use it on? I've had this about a year and love it. Does an amazing job picking up dust and dog hair and is easy to empty. It's the only thing I like to use on stairs and it works well on upholstery too. But it's kind of heavy, so it may or may not be good for what you want. http://www.amazon.com/Eureka-EasyClean-Corded-Hand-Held-Vacuum/dp/B0006HUYGM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1442577258&sr=8-1&keywords=Stair+vacuum

We have this one, too, that someone gave us by mistake (not realizing it has a cord). It's heavy and winding the cord is kind of a pain but it works SO MUCH BETTER than any dustbuster that I've ever had that I've decided that it's worth it.

PP here. The new dustbusters come with lithium ion batteries that are supposed to be better than the old ones. They're more expensive though - like $150 rather than $50.

OP here. Thanks for the links. I have two young kids but no pets so it mainly gets used for crumbs around the kitchen and dining room, and dust bunnies in between cleanings. It needs to be light and portable. However, I will look into the ones you recommended.

Get the dyson hand held. Worth the investment.
