Get store bought hummus, or chips with salsa or quiche that you bake at home, store bought dip, yum, store bought guamacole.

Go get a giant pan of Stouffer’s Mac and Cheese. It will be gone!

PIgs in blankets. Disappear every time. And unlike many of the other suggestions, they are good finger food, so easy to take and eat.

You can buy them premade or make them yourself. I get the sheets of uncut Pillsbury crescent rolls, and use a pizza wheel to slice into small pieces. Cut into four quarters, then each quarter will make 10 (2x5). Roll Hillshire Farms Lil Beef Smokies in and bake according to the crescent roll directions (The sausages are precooked). Put them in a dish in cooler bag and the insulated bag will keep them warm until you serve.

This will appeal to the adults, not the swimmers. My 17yo would inhale a ton of watermelon, but wouldn't touch this salad.

OP here: One time, I took a tray of rice, beans and meat with a bag of tortillas and tubs of lettuce, sour cream and salsa thinking it would make good tacos. Too fussy and after the kids had gone through it, everything was mixed up and messy. Another time, I took a tray of garlic knots, this was a hit because it came from Dominos .

I’ve brought a big bowl of fried rice before that went well. Also several orders of spring rolls. Fast and easy to get on your plate are the way to go.

What is everyone’s obsession with sliced watermelon?

That pink jello salad with marshmallows. You laugh, but it always disappears.

It's the best fruit in the summer.

It’s easy to make and it gets eaten.

I despise adult potlucks because I cannot cook, at all, but whatever I bring to kid/team potlucks goes quickly. So all those fussy salads with orzo and cilantro and whatnot that everyone is suggesting? Or skewers with fancy mozz and a balsamic drizzle? Bring those to an adult potluck.

For kids, keep it simple, easy to grab and go, finger food. Those Domino garlic knots were a good idea. We just had a team potluck and other than desserts here is what was popular with kids:

- watermelon two ways: cut into chunks and sliced into small triangles; I think every kid and adult there took some
- pretzel bites with a side of dipping mustard (and little plastic fork/toothpicks)
- individual bags of chips, variety pack (Cheetos seemed to be the big hit)
- mac & cheese portioned out into small, clear plastic cups with a fork in each

Those carrot sticks with a side of dipping ranch mentioned upthread are a good idea, too (but sound like a lot of work).

PP again. I just listed sides but for more of a main what was popular were ham & cheese sliders on Hawaiian rolls that were baked. One tray had a sauce drizzled on it and one was plain (kids seemed to be doing the plain). Probably beyond my cooking skills already but throwing it out there for the rest of you.

Peeling eggs -

My mom buys Egglands best brand for them. It works with basic booking method but they're expensive.

I use any egg, doesn't matter the date or brand. I boil the water FIRST then turn down the heat and immediately gently put in the eggs with a slotted spoon. Cover, cook 12 min, throw into an ice bath. They peel perfectly.

This. It’s easy and the kids will eat it.
