I'd like to hear your experiences with SBD. How much weight did you take off and how long did it take? Has the weight stayed off since moving on to Phases 2 & 3?
Thanks! |
| 10 pounds, and yes I have been able to keep it off. |
| I originally lost 25 lbs. on south Beach when it came out 5 yrs. ago. I mostly kept the weight off for 2 years, then started creeping up again. It just became really old to keep going back to phase 1 when I needed to get back on track. Now I am doing Weight Watchers, the weight is coming off much more slowly. I am planning to modify WW with some South Beach guidelines, ie increase protein and eat more nuts. IMO, there is nothing like South Beach to bring your weight down quickly, target the belly area, and never feel hungry. Have you ever tried South Beach before? |
I could have written this post (aside from losing 25 lbs on the SBD). I lost approx. the last 10 lbs of baby weight on SBD, but it does creep back if you get off track, which happens with any diet I suppose. I just got tired of it, so I'm doing WW not and as the PP said, the weight is coming off a lot slower, but I find it to fit better with my lifestyle. |
| OP here. I've never done SBD but am considering it since I do want to lose some weight quickly, which I hope will motivate me into going into it long term, like you are! |
| my sister lost a lot o f weight on SB. but you have to stick to it and phase 1 was really hard on her. |
| To those whose weight crept back up-- did you stick to phase 2 or 3 after you lost the weight? |
Yes, more or less. It's really hard because there is no limits on portions and that can be tricky for me, which is why I find doing the Weight Watchers points system better because it forces me to limit the portion sizes. For example, on SBD Phase 2, you can eat certain types of cereals. Instead of limiting my bowl of cereal to 1 cup, I would pour a huge bowl, probably amounting to closer to 1.5-2 cups. It starts to add up.... Oh, but I'm sure my "cheating on weekends" which would sometimes get a little out of control didnt help matters either. You just need to be really disciplined and make sure you exercise a lot, which is the case on any weight loss program I suppose. Good luck!!!

Hi , I am a pp who lost 25 lbs--yes, I did stick with Phase 2 and was able to continue to lose weight--when I progressed to Phase 3 i stayed steady for a while. My problem is I eat when tired/stressed/bored and since I had lost so much weight, I slowly started overeating at times and the weight came back. For me , the South Beach took alot or organization and determination, but it was highly effective. My husband lost weight as well and was disappointed when i decided to try WW. He loves the South Beach Recipes! I honestly know I would lose weight faster on WW if I cut out potatos, rice and bread. Also, cravings disappeared while on SB, which was miraculous for me.Some friends who tried South Beach said they were constantly hungry or felt faint-that never happened to me. |
| Thanks for the feedback, 8:51! I use the "SB quick and easy recipe book" (or some title to that effect), and my husband always likes the recipes too. He often requests the shrimp scampi! |
