Is it possible to sit with a decorator, show them our current furnishings, discuss what we like/don't like in terms of design/decor, and then ask them to provide us with different options on paint color, some furniture pieces, use of existing furniture, etc. in an economical way? If so, how do we go about finding someone who can help? We once tried hiring someone, but they turned out to have more bohemian tastes compared to our more modern/minimalist preferences. |
We used this woman for this a few years ago, when we first moved into our house. We were clear that we couldn't engage her for a full-scale redecorate but we paid for a 1-2 hour consultation and she gave us good ideas on colors, how to use our existing furniture, etc.

Instead of an Interior decorator, I would use a stager.
But sidenote- this is my dream job. I decorate all of my friends houses and am obsessed with estate sales/craigslist finds. |
