I read these back in the early 2000s. Some things stuck with me:
1) If you don't like something, just turn away from it--don't give it your energy 2) Talk about and think about what you love--it just puts you in a good frame of mind 3) Visualize your day going well; send good thoughts ahead of you wherever you go Anyone else read these? What did you like/what did you think was useless? |
| I listened to these audiobooks. It makes you recognize and appreciate positive people, and intentionally avoid negative people. |
Definitely value to these philosophies. Honestly life changing in my case. I was gifted the audio CD at a dark time in my life by someone who was pretty much a stranger. My life has been on an upward swing since then and when I need boost I go back to the CDs. It may sound crazy but I have been able to manifest awesome experiences by focusing on the positive. |

I still use her philosophy to determine who are the people I want in my life. People who make me feel positive every time I interact with them are the ones who are in my life now.
I do believe in being prepared for the worst, but, I also relinquish control of my day to a higher power after that. I have wished for positive things and it has happened. I know how to recognize when I am being negative and I know how to turn that off. |
| when i look back to when i first started reading the secret (must've been 2007ish) some really great things have happened to me and when not so great moments occurred i was more mindful of lifting myself up and focusing positively somehow. for me the book continues to serve me. |
While the books encourage you to dive in/think of EVERYTHING in the way they recommend, I think just using the overall message of positivity is good. It's funny how much I am embarrassed that I read these, when they were actually really helpful! |
| Try reading "the circle" similar principles but better writing. I agree that it can be life changing to refocus your mind on what you want as opposed to focusing on what you lack. |
