Was. Looking at the nutrition facts of APS lunch menus and saw this entree option has unusually high calories. Do you think it's a mistake?
The servicing size 12oz. Below is the description of the menu item found on the website: ...Ours combines romaine and spinach with diced potatoes, corn, black beans, fajita chicken, cheddar cheese and corn chips.... |
| It's the dressing, which your kid probably doesn't like anyway. |
|
I would be THRILLLLED if someone could get that many calories into my son in one sitting.
|
| I noticed that, too, and wondered if it was a mistake. The other salad (chef) is nowhere near that bad. |
+1. Good luck with that. |
| Is that just the salad or is it for the whole lunch? |
| No, just the salad. It stands out because all the other choices are around 350 calories. |
| As pp said, it's the dressing. Many salads have more calories than a burger when you dress them. |
|
I have a big problem with this post.
Assuming 800 calories per meal, three meals for the day is 2400 calories, which is fine for a growing, active kid. Right? |
| You wouldn't want your kid to eat that salad three times a day every day, but it doesn't seem worth posting about. I'm lucky if I can get 100 calories into my kids before 7 AM. |
Me too! |
| Yay! Passing your control issues and eating disorder on to your kid!!! Well done! |
| Isn't the 43 grams of fat an issue? |
|
I don't think most people have to worry about this.
It is the secondary option on Pizza Friday. Not sure how many ES kids will opt for this salad even though the pizza always look awful to me.
|
I think my kids are the only kids who don't get pizza for pizza Friday! It does look pretty bad, although this year they appear to have French bread pizza which doesn't look quite as bad! |
