Where can I find more "grown up" clothes for her? She should be (and is dying to be) in juniors, but even XSs are too big usually for her. She's about 5', 75lbs. She is still in 12 slim jeans (10 slim for shorts because she doesn't need the length). H&M has *some* but there is a dearth of clothes for the tweeny kids, or small teens. I'm sure I'm missing something. NOTE: I'm not a shopper or trend follower, so I always feel like I'm short changing my girls as I don't know where to direct them.
I would take her to a store where she wants to shop - like Abercrombie or Topshop or VV, whatever her style - and get a few key pieces (like jeans) in the smallest sizes, and then take them to a tailor to alter for her. I would fill thr bulk of her wardrobe with other clothes that fit her off the rack, like gap or old navy slim sizing.
What about Zara? Their kids' section has some styles that seem more grown up.
My daughter could wear XS from some places when she was that size. I think I remember Hollister and Aeropostale size XS being ok. She's now 5'2" and doesn't have a problem so it won't be too long!
Abercrombie Kids- my niece has had good luck finding clothes there in that size
Forever 21?
Jcrew has short xxs and their clothes are great
just say no to abercrombie and Hollister

For petites, online shopping is your friend GAP and Old Navy have great basic tshirts, hoodies and tops available in petite sizes online only: a petite xs might do the trick. (Petite sizing really helps with the fit in shoulders and sleeve length.)
My DD--about 4' 11' and 90 lbs--has had good luck with size 00 short jeans (23 waist) from American Eagle. Occasionally you will see those in stores, but more often you have to order online. |
Boden?
Check out the Tucker + Tate line at Nordstrom - it's in the kids' department, but is fashionable/cool without being trashy the way some of the Abercrombie stuff is. We do buy jeans and casual tees at Abercrombie b/c they are sized so ridiculously tiny, they actually work on my petite 13 yo.

She is not alone. Just bought 13 year old DD size 10 Lands End jeans this weekend. We REALLY want to be out fo the kids dept but at 4'11 even petitie pants are too long,

This is where I have landed for my 7th grader as well. Abecrombie kids + Old Navy for basics. |
