Hi,
We're new to FCPS (kindergartener this year). I don't see space on the FCPS calendar for Parent/Teacher conferences. Do schools do this individually? |
| Hi, I am new too and have a kindergartener. We were told at the open house that there will be a conference after the first quarter, but if we wanted one sooner, just to contact the teacher. |
| Typically parent-teacher conferences are scheduled for the teacher work days in early November. |
|
Usually there is a sign up sheet available at Back to School Night. Also, the teacher will discuss conferences at that time and give you more information.
|
| Parent/teacher conferences are no longer required after the first quarter, so if is not offered and you want one, be sure to request it. They will give you one if you request it. |
|
They do only one, in the fall.
I requested a second one in the spring - because, hey, I'd like to know how my kid is doing! - and got one without fuss. |
|
We were told to try to avoid planning any conferences during the day on Nov. 3 due to it being School Planning Day.
I know some schools don't require them any more, but my admin is requiring conferences in the fall. We used to put out sign ups at Back To School Night, but I know many have started putting Sign-Up Genius forms (or similar) on Blackboard. Conference sign ups might be electronic. |
| I had a phone conference last year. We were okay with this. |
