| My daughter is very emotional and has always been challenged with controlling her temper. Lately it is getting out of control. She just started the third grade in a new school. She is not happy about being the new kid (even though she seems to be making a lot of nice new friends) . At home her anger and temper have resulted in some really disrespectful behavior. Everything is a battle and I'm having a really hard time figuring out how to handle this. Does anyone have experience with this and/or a recommendation for a good family therapist that I could talk to? I'm at my wit's end and concerned that this turning into a serious behavior/personality disorder. |

When she is not angry, have her practice a few techniques. When she initially feels the angry rises, she takes a step back and closes her eyes for 10 seconds, counting to her self. You may have to catch her and tell her 'step back and close your eyes'. You may have to do this repeatedly until she recognizes the build up.
Another one is to put your tongue on the roof or your mouth, breath in for 7 seconds, hold for seven seconds and out through the mouth for seven second- eyes closed. |
