Minecraft videos

What does it mean when kids start watching other Minecraft videos/games on youtube? My older DD has started doing that and I don't know what to make of it. Some of these things are like three hours long.

Mine watches these a lot. I don't let him watch a 3-hour thing in one sitting. Essentially harmless, but sometimes I hear language I don't approve of; then I tell him to forget that particular one. I understand Stampy Longnose is the most popular, and while it sounds very teenager-y to parents, there is not a single foul word or action (except slaughtering sheep or blowing up monsters, which is SOOO tame in Minecraft).

Videos are how my son learned how to do minecraft. You also learn about servers.

Video learning is the way of the future so I think it is good. He learned a lot.

I don't think it means anything in particular. My almost 10 yo ds has been watching them for a year or two. I nixed the first few he started watching due to profanity. He doesn't watch any that are three hours long. They're more like 20-40 minutes.

We only allow our son to access videos through YouTube Kids, so language is not an issue. He likes Stampy and some guy named Dan.

DanTDM the diamond mine cart. My almost 10 year old watches those two channels too. There isn't any profanity because they know a lot of children watch their videos. I don't know why my son likes them, but he's neen watching for like 4 years without losing interest lol.

Yes, that's it! I like Dan because he's cute and I like his accent.

There are definitely some that have foul language but the Diamond Mine Cart guy with the British accent is fine. My 8-year-old watches him all the time.

My kid has also been playing a newly popular game called Agar.Io (pronounced agar-ee-o) that has some questionable videos out there. The game itself is fine but I was looking over his shoulder while he was watching a video and the screen was suddenly full of naked women's butts followed by a lot of terrible language. I banned all Agar.io videos after that because I think the same person makes all of them.

Yikes, my kids just got into Agar.io because Pat and Jen did a video on it. I haven't seen any other agar.io videos though. I will have to watch out for that. The Pat and Jen Agar.io video seemed extremely boring to me. The only profanity I noticed was someone had a ball on it named the F word. Plus so many references to balls that are kind of ribald to Pat, but my kids don't really get. They are 7 and 9.

I have them watch youtube on the tv so that I can see what they are watching. I can never seen sex acts or profanity. We only watch the Diamond Minecart and Pat and Jen.
