I hate the black granite the previous owners put in the kitchen, but I'm stuck with them for now.
They never look shiny---they look dull---like there's a weird film on them. Tips? |
What have you already tried? I have black granite counter tops as well, and a quick wipe down with a bleach wipe has them shining. Using a sponge, leaves a dull look. I always thought that was just because the sponge had already been used on dirty plates or whatnot. Now you have me thinking any sponge may have that affect. Try a bleach wipe. |
You can try resealing them yourself and if that doesn't work, have a granite shop come in and polish them. |
Does a granite shop's services produce good results? |
Sealer could be etched. Deep clean then reseal with Trewax stone sealer (or similar). If that does not work, they will need professional re-polishing (grinding). |
Don't use bleach wipes on granite!! It can damage the sealer. |
Are you sure they're not honed to begin with? That would explain why they look dull......... |
They need resealed every few years |
That's my thought too. We have honed black granite now - replaced shiny black granite. I much prefer it to the shiny. But even the honed granite needs to be resealed periodically. |
