I am trying to repaint a bathroom that gets a lot of light. Cabinets are white as well as flooring. Any color suggestions? |
I have a small bathroom like this, and chose rose walls. I prefer to stay away from yellow or green hues for bathrooms, as it doesn't flatter any skin tone. Warm creams and pinks are flattering for skin. DH and DS don't mind at all. |
Go thematic: poop brown and pee yellow. |
If it's your personal bathroom I'd paint a color you find soothing. If it's a downstairs company bathroom that gets a lot of light I would think about a rich hue--crimson, navy, gold. Some color that coordinates with the other paint colors on that floor, but don't be afraid to go bold. |
When we renovated our upstairs bathroom, the ceramic wall tile is white with black accent tile, with black and white glazed hexagonal tile on the floor. Shelves, towels and woodwork is all white. We went with a super-pale blue for the painted walls – like an ice blue. I had really been unsure what color to use and then saw a picture in a magazine and thought it went so well with the black and white. Sometimes at first glance, people think it is almost white, but it's nice because there's just enough tint that it hides imperfections. |
Benjamin Moore Palladian blue |

I would never do anything in a non-powder bath other than something close to white. So on the paint chip strips, one of the colors that is lightest on the strip. Essentially white, but with color undertone when up against white cabinets. Bathrooms should be zen and soothing. I would never want my bathroom paint color to elicit a strong emotional reaction - like what you get from bold paint colors. |
The excellent advice I got from a decorator friend was to paint the bathroom a color that's flattering to you – one you'd wear. Then it will flatter you and perk you up any time you look in the mirror. I chose a persimmon color that happened to match a favorite shirt I was wearing the day we had that conversation and have not regretted it for a minute. |
Do you know what brand and exact color was this pale blue? |
Oh sounds like yours and we chose Benjamin Moore old glory. It's a great blue that is darker than royal but lighter than navy. |

OURS sounds like yours. |
Medium Off White. Makes white cabinets and white tiles pop. |
I'm the PP who used the pale blue in our bathroom and you wanted to know what color and brand. I actually used Sherwin-Williams paint explorer option on their web site, then took the swatch to our Home Depot and got Behr (we have tried all kind and Behr just seems to work best on our plaster walls). These days you can get the primer built in and the mildew resistant paint for high-moisture areas like bathrooms.
I'm not 100% certain, but I believe it's one of these: http://www.sherwin-williams.com/homeowners/color/find-and-explore-colors/paint-colors-by-family/SW6777-carefree/#/6777/?s=products&p=PS0 http://www.sherwin-williams.com/homeowners/color/find-and-explore-colors/paint-colors-by-family/SW6504-sky-high/#/6504/?s=products&p=PS0 One is a little more gray and one is a little more blue. But you can compare and contrast to other blues nearby in the "family" palette, but super-pale with just a hint of the color is what you want. Good luck! |
Wait! I did keep the swatch after all and just found it:
