would you send a 4.5 year old to pre-K from 9am to 3pm every day?

The school I'm considering is Montessori and their "core" preK schedule is 5 days a week 9am-3pm.
does this seem like too much for a 4.5 year old???

That is typical at many preschools. Most kids can handle that at age 4.

All (or most) Montessori schools are full day only. You either trust that they know what they're doing, or you don't.

Yes.

We didn't have a problem sending our 3.5 year old to PK from 8:45 - 3:15. Not montessori, but I don't know that it affects much.

I grew up in a country where everyone goes to full day preschool starting at age 3, and my kid is doing the same, so that's my normal.

Not too much.

It is the norm, OP, but it doesn't mean that you should do this for your child.

My oldest had special needs and was not ready for such a schedule - the Montessori headmistress suggested that he come from 9 to 12, like the 3 year olds. It worked well.

My second was raring to go from the time she was 2! No problems there.

depends on your kid

I think this is perfectly fine for a 4.5 year old. The first few days might be tiring but they'll adjust.

And please realize that Kindergarten is 9 to 3:25 in Montgomery County now, starting at 5. Other counties have similar schedules.

If your child is 4.5, he should start acclimating at some point.

Yes, we did it and it was fine. They'll probably have a rest period, so it's a good bridge to kindy next year.

Yes. I have, and it was great.

No. Not at all. DD was in all day preschool at three and loved it.

No it's not too much. They love it. You'll see very soon that they require that much stimulation and activity on a daily basis.
