would you send a 4.5 year old to pre-K from 9am to 3pm every day?

The school I'm considering is Montessori and their "core" preK schedule is 5 days a week 9am-3pm.
does this seem like too much for a 4.5 year old??? |

| That is typical at many preschools. Most kids can handle that at age 4. |

| All (or most) Montessori schools are full day only. You either trust that they know what they're doing, or you don't. |

| We didn't have a problem sending our 3.5 year old to PK from 8:45 - 3:15. Not montessori, but I don't know that it affects much. |

| I grew up in a country where everyone goes to full day preschool starting at age 3, and my kid is doing the same, so that's my normal. |

It is the norm, OP, but it doesn't mean that you should do this for your child. My oldest had special needs and was not ready for such a schedule - the Montessori headmistress suggested that he come from 9 to 12, like the 3 year olds. It worked well. My second was raring to go from the time she was 2! No problems there. |

And please realize that Kindergarten is 9 to 3:25 in Montgomery County now, starting at 5. Other counties have similar schedules. If your child is 4.5, he should start acclimating at some point. |

| Yes, we did it and it was fine. They'll probably have a rest period, so it's a good bridge to kindy next year. |

No it's not too much. They love it. You'll see very soon that they require that much stimulation and activity on a daily basis. |
