Wilson HS prom 2016, Memorial Day Weekend?

Just looking through the online schedule, they have everything listed already (musical, gala, tests, etc.) really great.

I noticed that the Prom is on the Friday of Memorial Day weekend. Is that the usual timing for the Prom? If so, does anyone mind that it is a holiday weekend? We have a sophomore this year but may need to make note of this for future reference since we have a huge family event a few states away on Mem. Day weekend every year.

There's only about 5 good weekends to hold a prom and depending on the venue...the availability is sparse. The holiday weekend is a popular time for many prom high-schoolers but it's a kill-joy for the chaperones. But it is probably all contingent on the availability of the venue and the cost. Which is surprising that Wilson is hosting their prom doing that weekend as prices are at the premium. I have a school calendar that reads Prom - Friday before the holiday
, Ocean City Trip for Seniors - Saturday before the holiday
Senior Celebration Awards - Sunday before the Holiday
Senior Send-off Brunch - Memorial Day

Our chaperones are on steroids.
