Our very sensitive, bright 11-year-old has always been a picky eater, but it's beginning to get out of hand and his latest annual showed his growth rate as having dropped precipitously. Has anyone worked with an eating specialist or gastroenterologist who was helpful in addressing a similar problem?
In addition, he experiences bouts of stress-induced vomiting before school with unfortunate regularity. Any related recommendations for help with similar problems? |

Are you sure the nausea is stress induced?
There is something called cyclical vomiting syndrome, relatively common in children. There is another condition called gastroparesis--not hard to diagnose with the proper test but often an overlooked cause of nausea and vomiting. A gastroenterologist would be able to help with a diagnosis. As you are asking for a gastro referral, it appears the anxiety cause was perhaps self diagnosed--please get this checked out to rule out medical causes. |
