Kanye's VMA "Speech...."

Wow, I sat in front of my T.V. Sunday evening and invested 12 minutes of my precious life (that I will sadly never get back!) watching Kanye West go on and on and on....About nothing. Absolutely nothing.

At first he looked like he was about to break down and cry. I was so surprised that he would humble himself in front of so many people, but I thought perhaps he was (finally) maturing in life esp. now that he was going to have a new son.

Didn't happen. Sure, he didn't weep but if there were any tears present, they were straight from a crocodile. For real.

He spent some time basking in the verbal adoration of his fans, something he must have loved from the beginning. Then when he started speaking, my head was getting dizzier by the second. He was talking in circular waves that had no definitive purpose and nothing made any sense. I just thought he was a pompous dumb ass, but he then offered up that he had smoked a little something prior to take off the "edge." Cool. His wife is pregnant yet he smokes weed. How respectful.

He ended multiple sentences with "BRO." Okay....real original. Esp. for an OG like himself.

Then the whole presidential announcement was just crazy to top it all off. I cannot imagine Kanye in the White House, his cocky self in the Oval Office getting high before meeting with his cabinet. And Kim K. our First Lady, walking around half dressed and posing nude from time to time.

God help us "Bro."

Wow. That is 30 seconds of my life I won't get back. You high, bro?

I 100% agree. He could have acknowledged what he did a few years ago with Taylor sucked, especially now that he has a daughter and can see how that would be hurtful... but then it got melodramatic... lengthy... without saying anything.

He is Nietzsche's definition of a poet- muddying the waters to make them appear deep. He's what we used to call a 'donut' in high school- he forms a perfect circle from always leaning over blowing himself. He's not profound, not smart. I was embarrassed for him.

I agree. Everyone in the industry talks about how he's such a genius. I keep waiting to see what they see, but it never happens.

I try to keep an open mind. Maybe he's innovative in ways I don't know or understand. But so far, his efforts to share his thoughts in public arenas always fall short. In both speeches and interviews, he comes across as a completely empty vessel. Maybe he really is drunk and high all the time. Or maybe there's just nothing there.

He's an excellent producer. That's all.

In a dozen other ways he is stupid.
