I gained about 40 lb with my first pregnancy, and lost it all in about 3-4 months with a lot of hard work--1-2 hours of exercise every day. Unfortunately, it looks like I'm on the same weight gain track this time around (at 30 weeks now and about 28 lb gain). I'm not "skinny" to start out with, but on the average to thin side at 5'9 and 130lb. I've been working out all through this pregnancy, as I did with my last one.
My question is-- what is everyone's experience-- be it harder, easier, or about the same with losing the baby weight the second time around? I don't know why, but I am starting to really worry that it isn't going to come off this time. |
| Last time I wasn't really paying huge attention so it SEEMED easier. I did start a nursing version of WW points after 8 weeks though, but I wasn't obsessed with the scale because I had no idea what to expect (it took about 5 months). Both times, the three things that have worked (I think I posted this in the Parenting forum) were WW, running a LOT, and nursing. Just harder this time because I'm really focused and paying attention and it's been tough to look weeks down the line and how far I have to go. It's been 4.5 months now and I have 10 lbs to go (I'm 5'9" too and hope to bottom out in the high 130's). Good luck! |
| 5'9" and 130 is pretty slender. |

I lost weight more easily with number 2. I didnt even exercise at all in the pregnancy and did nothing until 6 mos postpartum. But then to get the last 10 lbs off it took a ton of running and, once the baby wasnt totally dependent on breastfeeding, some dieting (as in, eating lots of salads, veggies, lean meat, etc blah blah). Both times it took a year to get entirely 100% back to pre-preg weight.
I am a bit taller than you and weigh a few lbs more so we are similar. |
