Waitlist moved one number higher?

I don't really care either way, but was just curious how this could happen:

yesterday, we were ranked #25 at our 1st pick school. Today we are ranked #26. Obviously we're not getting in, but I'm just trying to imagine what happened in the last week that someone could jump on the waitlist in front of us so long after the end of the Round 2 lottery.

Probably wasn't an in-bound sibling - someone got in off the wait list, and her sibling jumped to the top of yours.

For this particular school, the only people getting in are in-bounds.
