Fairfax County - bus drop off

My DC is starting kindergarten next week. I have not seen any official information about how bus drop off is handled. I heard that the bus driver won't let a kindergartner off if an adult isn't there to pick them up. How does the driver know who the adult is?

The person picking up the Kindergartner must ask the bus driver for the the student by name- they seem to take this rule pretty seriously, we had the same bus driver all year and he obviously knew that I was my kid's parent since I was there every single day, but each time they made me call out the kid's name before letting her off the bus.
