Best time to have birthday party on a Saturday?

Anonymous
Hi there

I'm planning on having a birthday party for my son (7th) on a Saturday in October - about 10-15 kids at home. There will be mostly 6-7 y/os, with a few older children (8-9y/o). I realize that people have Saturdays with sports, etc and am wondering the best time to have this? Any thoughts are much appreciated. Thank you

Later in the afternoon. Maybe 3-5pm. Serve a light dinner.

I might even do 4-6.

Yes - saturday mornings (before 1) are a no go for us because of language school.

OP here - that's what I thought. Thanks so much

Yes, agree, I like 3:30-5:30pm or 4-6pm.

2-4

After lunch, before dinner.

I agree 4-6 on Saturday, but hope you do dinner/cake towards the end. Eating too much earlier than normal throws my kids off -- they eat too little and then they are asking for food at bedtime.

Also, FWIW, I also like late afternoon parties on Sundays because they are less likely to conflict with sports/activities or other weekend plans, but that might be just me.

Ugh. Please don't do this. It throws off the whole afternoon and you can't get anything else done. Either do lunch or dinner. For people that have other things to do, if you do lunch they can do other things, like errands, afterwards. If you do dinner, they can do errands and such before. Unfortunately, some of us work and have to cram a lot into weekends and taking up a whole afternoon is just a non-starter for us.

We have soccer games in the morning and afternoons (for 2 kids). Our afternoon games go from 3-4, so even a 4:00 party, we would be late for. So anyway, I would vote for 4:30 pm -6:30 pm on Saturday

Thanks, everyone!

A lot of sports or other classes are in the morning to noon on Saturdays/Sundays. There are some in the afternoon but usually done by 4 or so. So the best time for a party for that age is 3pm-5pm and serve snacks. Or 4pm-6pm and snacks. That's usually the time they want a snack anyways.

If you really like them, move it to serving dinner but that's a lot of people to serve. If you do this, keep it simple and have pizza, veggie and fruit trays.

Agree with all the others for late afternoon. Everyone has sports or other activities sat am.

I vehemently disagree.
