| We want to go camping this weekend, but Shenandoah appears to be totally booked. Any recommendations for other campsites? Thank you! |
| A little late to be reserving for the Labor Day weekend. |
| Yes, that's true. We just got word that our relatives aren't visiting after all, so we are scrambling to make new plans. |
| Lost River State Park in WV. |
| Cape Henlopen in DE |

Anywhere north and west. It will be too hot otherwise! Who knows what availability will be like. You'll just have to start checking sites. Virginia State Parks are great, as are many of the MD parks, but it is supposed to be very hot and humid, so maybe a cabin? Probably harder to find those, though.
Pohick Bay is nice but close and has a water park. |
| BLue Green resort outside CHarlottesville. |

Try one of the private campgrounds near the Shenandoah.
Or one of the Maryland state parks - they tend to have lots of sites. |
| Loft Mountain campground has some first-come first-serve campsites. I would recommend getting there before 10am to snag one. |
| from my experience, there are always available campsites in Shenandoah even it if says booked. If you feel adventurous, drive from one campsite to another and ask. |

Elizabeth Furnace, KOA in Harrisonburg, Pohick Bay State Park are some that we've liked in the past. Some campgrounds are first come, first served, so if you get there early, you can get a spot. Elizabeth Furnace is first come/first served.
Also Seneca Shadows is pretty cool. |
