| Do you guys suffer from what I call "behind at work syndrome" (BAWS)? I hate it when I'm behind at work and feel like I can't catch-up. I'm maybe a little too diligent and being behind with tasks is always occupying my mind. It makes it hard to relax even on weekends when I know I'm behind. I call it BAWS. Anyone else suffer from this malady? How do you cope? |
| No, I suffer from DGAS, don't give a shit syndrome. No matter how quickly I work, there will always be more, so I just go at a maintainable pace. |
OP here, that was pretty awesome. |
|
Yeah, I do.
But lately more often than not, I'm not actually as behind (or at all) as I think I am. |
| OP, I get you but I get behind because there is so much work on my desk, It never ends, so I try to manage it in the best way I can, although pending action items nag at me subconsciously. |
| Are you actually behind? Or just not 100 percent done with all conceivable tasks? If the latter, set milestones with dates that are reasonable for everything on your plate. Then you can judge yourself against a reasonable project plan, rather than an unreasonable expectation of getting everything done by 5pm Friday. |
It took me quite a few years and now I have attained this same, disengaged state. |
| I'm behind because management made impossible goals they want us too meet. |
Me too! Already looking for a new job. |
Ha, ha - I love this! |
I became one of those dorky people at work who uses Getting Things Done. It doesn't cure a person's perfectionism but for me it made a difference. |
| I am always behind. I have two separate to do lists: the one that involves time sensitive client-related tasks and the one I will start working on the Wednesday before TG. My office will close early, because no one comes in. Because no one comes in, I will plough through the second list no problem. |
It's that an app or something? |
