extent of internet acess on Nintendo DS3 large

My child (10) is visiting grandparents. They bought her a ds3 as birthday gift. I understand it provides Internet access. Can anyone tell me what the limitations are? In our home our server filters things out. I am Not sure what grandparents have. Before I speak with him, I'm just wondering if people are aware of whether it's a child focused. Can I get into inappropriate things? Adult inappropriate or just not great to see. Please let me know. Thank you.

You can use the internet browser for pretty much anything that doesnt have web plugins. Technically, you can get into inappropriate things, but he is 10, so I think he will be just fine. P.S. its called a 3DS XL, not a ds3 large.

It was a while ago but I think I looked up how to set Nintendo parental controls on youtube. You can access and download games, I can't remember if what else it can do. I remember putting some parental control on it, and one of my kid's friends disabled it. They didn't do anything inappropriate though. My kid isn't that wily, but it just goes show you that kids probably know more than us, and we need to monitor to some extent on our own.

The DS has many great games and one of the nice things about downloading to the device is that you don't have to keep track of those damn cartridges. The Nintendo site will tell you which can be downloaded. Common Sense Media has good reviews of the games.
