What's an alternative if you love Room and Board?

If I love Room and Board but can't afford to buy all the below there, which items should I prioritize in buying there? For the rest, is CB2 and West Elm and Ikea the cheaper versions design wise (aside from quality difference)?
Which other stores should I check?

We bought a house and now need to buy:

Dining table with 4-6 chairs.
Eat in kitchen table with four chairs.
Big couch or sofa set that will seat up to six total.
King bed headboard, two end tables.
One dresser.
Foyer table with mirror.
Bookcases

Eventually need to buy:
Patio furniture
Toddler bed

Craigslist. You can pick some amazing pieces for 50% off or more.

Easy:
Tables (end and dining)
Foyer table, mirror
Bookcases
Toddler bed

Couch is super easy too if you're open to a lightly used couch. I've bought a couple off there that looked brand new, but I know some people are weird.

A little harder:
Patio furniture (this stuff tends to get faded/used hard)
Headboard
Dresser - there are some good finds but people tend to keep dressers a long time so a lot of the stuff is super outdated

Patio furniture I bought on ebay... it is totally what was represented and was a good price, but I wish I'd bought stuff I could sit on first.

Headboard I ordered online, can't remember where. Overstock is good for that though, doesn't matter how "comfy" a headboard is.

Yep, you got it. Check out Wayfair and their ilk

I would look around some and prioritize Room and Board for the stuff you love that you can't find elsewhere. Also, I think for some things you can mix and match. For instance, we got a table for our eat-in kitchen from Room and Board but we got chairs to go with it from Ikea.

We got a terrific sectional from Bassett, and they have lots of other stuff, too. Our bedroom set is Room and Board.

We got our Patio furniture from Costco and get a ton of compliments.

Allmodern
Wayfair
Dot and bo
Calligaris

All decent options

Good idea. Just the 6 chairs were costing 2500! Which table did you get?

Chairs are so expensive, that they are the one thing I buy almost exclusively on craigslist, consignment stores or etsy. My last dining chairs are a midcentury "named" designer that I got on etsy for $650 for the 6 of them. The kind of style you might expect at R&B. They are midcentury and not fancy, and needed a little work but are really special pieces now. Fixing up dining chairs is often easy - in our case, they are metal frame that needed a new spray paint coat ($5 and 15 minutes of my time), new black footpads ($5 on amazon), had original vinyl seats still in good condition but would have been insanely easy to refinish. And then that have a wooden back rest that comes off and someone professionally refinished for $90 for all 6. Because dining chairs are "updated" very easily with new fabric for less than $100 and a staple gun, this is one area I would never spend "new" money on.

I'm the PP and just by way of example (with 5 minutes of searching) here's 6 on ebay that are reasonably priced for the batch:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mid-Century-Danish-Modern-Chair-Set-of-6-Teak-Dining-Chairs-Vintage-D-Scan-Seats-/271969965808?hash=item3f52ac56f0

You could replace the fabric for less than $200. An easy DIY project. These would suddenly look like they were right out of R&B.

Check out thrive.com. They have amazing mid century stuff that is custom made and cheaper or around the same price as room and board. It's all made in the USA.

Costco. They have some nice furniture. Estate sales to supplement although the stuff may look outdated but if you are crafty, may be worth a try.

Allmodern the best bet.
Dot and bo needs a lot of searching
Calligaris has a certain sleek look, but limited styles

We got the Aria table: http://www.roomandboard.com/catalog/dining/tables/aria-tables--it sits in a nook in our kitchen and fits perfectly. We got the white MDF top and it has held up well to 2+ years of messes

Is thrive a typo or website is down? It's not working.
