What to Do With Basement Steps

I am finishing my basement and need to figure out how to finish the steps.

There is hardwood in the kitchen leading to the basement steps and tile in the basement itself.

I don't like the quote I got to try to match the hardwood in the kitchen.

Any suggestions on what to do?

We have hardwood on our entire first floor- Berber on the stairs to the basement- laminate "wood" and tile in front of the wet bar, walk out and full bath. Works nicely.

What's on your steps? If it's wood, can you refinish it? When we removed the carpet from our stairs, we found wood under it. We removed the tack strips, staples and refinished it.
