Granite or stainless sink

Anonymous
Trying to pick a sink for our new kitchen. I love the look of granite, but I am worried about the potential for cracking with boiling water.

We have granite counter tops with a stainless sink. I've actually never heard of a granite sink before but I would be amazed if boiling water would make it crack.

Never heard of a granite sink. We have stainless and I love it.

Never heard of a granite sink. Wouldn't it be porous?? Stainless is the most sanitary.

My inclination would be stainless.

Gah. I hate those plasticy sinks.

Stainless. I think it would be very easy to chip/crack a granite sink.

I thought the granite sinks were actually composite. Granite is not waterproof so I can't image anyone would make a sink out of solid granite. When I saw the composite sinks in the store, I was underwhelmed, especially since they had very high price tags. I got the stainless.

We had a cast iron sink in our last house and I absolutely loved it.

Now we're going with stainless. I guess it's okay, but I hate how it looks like it always has a film on it, even when it's clean. I would go with stainless over granite though.

Stainless, but undermount.

That would look great for a couple months...but stainless scratches too easily for it to look good long term.

Nothing looks new forever. Show me a pristine kitchen, and I'll show you someone who eats out every day.

Why not a white porcelain sink? It's cleans up to a sparkling white.
