We are looking to redo our mudroom and garage storage.
I see there are two basic options, the pre-made closet design companies or find a carpenter. What is everyone's experience? Recommendations for specific companies and carpenter companies? If you used a custom built carpenter how did you design it? Did you make plans, did the company etc... I also don't want Elfa or Container store DIY stuff. |
We get a carpenter and build it you can get pictures and make it just get the material and paint and start building ;is great because you can make what you desired and you need.if interested contact him at 202 4681748. he is fantastic and very good with his work

I've used Closet America and Econize for pre-made semi-custom closets. I think Closet America was slightly better, but both are good so I'd recommend getting a quote from both. |
How did you feel using the premade stuff vs the "real" wood from a carpenter. Did you pick white or did you get the fake wood grain? |
Can you provide more details |
I was stunned that our GC faithfully replicated inspiration photos I showed him for mudroom cubbies/beadboard. I would guess any decent carpenter or GC could do it. |
We've had two closets (very different designs) madeover by Econize, and plan to use them again in the future. The designer we worked with was David Townsend. We picked white, but I believe they have wood, and synthetic wood grain available. They brought samples and a 3D design program to the house to create the different spaces. |
I just bookmarked Econize today. It's hard to even guesstimate what kind of costs we're dealing with here. Are they terribly expensive because they are custom building everything? We have two small his and her walk in closets and I'm scared the pricing will push us over to DIY territory. |
My concern is that carpenter built looks better vs laminate premade. |
