Started in government in '96. Had my photo taken. Used that photo for two decades until we switched over to the new ID system in about 2006. Had just come back from maternity leave -- looked completely different than I do now. 50 lbs heavier. Can't get my photo taken again. Have had my ID expire twice but am told that the photo just gets reprinted.
In all this time, I've only ever had one federal security officer say to me "you don't look like this photograph." I showed him my driver's license and congratulated him on his perspicacity. It's ridiculous. This is security? |
| They retake ours every few years, as they did at my old agency. Where my daughter goes to daycare, the federal facility that houses them takes a new picture yearly. |

No photos change. They are a "snapshot", if you will, of a particular moment in time.
Eventually though they will have self-ageing photos, which gradually turn your hair gray and stretch you out by about a pound a year. |
| We get new ones every few years. I'm an 8 year fed and am on my third picture. The new pictures are super ugly- we can't smile, so we basically look like serial killers. I think this is your agency that's not reissuing. |
| Oh and I'm pp, they have taken even more recent photos of me that show up when I swipe my badge, but isn't printed. |
| Lose the 50 pounds |
I have douchebag -- that's why I don't look like my photo! |
Your image hasn't changed drastically enough. Friend lost 200 lbs. they made her take a new picture. |
this is totally how I feel about my ID badge |
| HSPD-12 badges require an updated pic every 10 years, I thought... |
| I work for DoD. have to get a new CAC card with picture every three years. |
