Couples who reunited after many years

Sometimes read in wedding announcements about a couple that meets up 25 or 30 years after first dating and winds up married. Ever know someone who did this? Did the man or woman make the first contact? What did it feel like seeing each other after so many years?

Don't know personally, but it happened to Rudy Guliani's ex-wife. I used to listen to her on the radio and really liked her. She reconnected with her college boyfriend after her divorce from Rudy and I believe she wrote a book about the experience.

My divorced brother (divorced 10+ year) worked his way back through his old girlfriends. Each one available and willing, he dated again. He is getting married to his girlfriend when he was 19

Two friends of mine who I met at summer camp 25 years ago just started a relationship.

Both of my parents fell back on old flames after their divorce. It went badly. Familiarity, loneliness, and fear of the unknown are a poor substitute for actual compatibility.

I have two college friends who just reconnected after 20 years. They dated for maybe 6 months or so, she moved to another state, and then 20 years later she found him, maybe through FB. Neither had ever married, and she told him he was the love of her life and she wanted to spend the rest of hers with him. She moved across the country to live with him and they recently got engaged. It's such a romantic story that I really hope it works out for them!

My dad went to his 50th high school reunion and a classmate told him she had always been in love with him. I don't know any more than that. But he seemed awfully happy when he got back.

Friend of mine remarried her first husband 27 years after they divorced (which happened 18 months after they married at 22)..

Not intending to offend but that cracked me up with several fleeting thoughts and to his 'happiness'. lol

I might have the record. Couple divorces after 10 years of marriage when he runs off with another woman who got pregnant during their affair. Flash forward 30 years and wife #2 divorces him. Man and first wife now in their sixties begin dating after talking on the phone for a month. They were together for 25 years when he died and she passed a few years later.

Okay, the gap isn't that dramatic, but I dated my now husband when he was 18 and I was 17. We lost touch but reconnected when I was 26, and married when I was 28!

I know a couple who were girlfriend/ boyfriend through their teen years. Parents broke them up and they both married other people. Twenty years later, his marriage was in trouble and he reaches out to her. They said it hit them like a truck and they've been having an affair for four/five years now. His wife divorced him. She is still married.

I can see the appeal if the chemistry was strong.
