So how does one go about this task? Pintrest leads me to believe its fairly simple? 1.) sand 2.) paint 3.) seal if you want? Is there a specific kind of furniture paint? Any tips are welcomed and needed! |
Sand well. Remove dust with moist but almost dry cloth. Prime. Paint. You need the primer so that the wood or previous color doesn't leach through. Sand again and add another coat if you want. It's easy but time consuming. |
There is kitchen cabinet paint they sell. It goes on smoother. Use a roller not a brush. |
Anne sloan chalk paint. It comes in a ton of colors and is so easy to apply. |
Is it wood or veneer? |
You want to sand between every coat with superfine sandpaper, and then wipe with a lint-free cloth and mineral spirits (available for $4 at the hardware store). A dresser by its nature will take a beating every time you open the drawers, so you want to avoid chipping and peeling as much as possible by doing all the appropriate steps. |
