Neither of those posts is even in the vicinity of "spot on". Almost by definition, any post describing large groups of people with simplistic generalities is going to be a long distance from "spot on". Such posts will be much closer to "mostly wrong".

Yep, I'm a transplant though I wouldn't be surprised if I have lived in DC more years than you have, or not too many less. As noted in my post, I'm also a transplant who thinks that saying, "Natives are boring and awful because they live in the past; the past that is not that noteworthy, to begin with" is pretty far from "spot on" and much closer to "mostly wrong". Though, as your post demonstrated, not being boring doesn't mean that some specific natives can't test one's patience.

If the natives left the area for other than college (if that), they would realize that not everyone is from "flyover country". Some transplants are from much nicer places than D.C. Hard to imagine, if you hardly ever left this area, I know. Grow up and leave your mother's skirt hem for once. Natives can be so pitiful. Except I would not waste my time pitying them, because their attitude is piss poor.

D.C. is a part of the journey for most of us, NOT the destination. I suppose that is what mothers the natives so much - that transplants actually have options which are better than this hell hole with maladjusted natives and their acting out.
