Why don’t we have anyone with strong cognitive skills running for president?

Kennedy scares me, but Trump scares me more, so I’ll vote for Biden even though he’s in decline, because he’s the least scary. He may not be as savvy as he once was, but at least he generally appoints competent people who believe in the Constitution and rule of law, who aren’t bat shit crazy, who aren’t grifters, who aren’t trying to dismantle or cripple the federal government, and who don’t worship him as a false idol.

He wants to scale back the military-industrial complex and reduce our involvement in foreign conflicts.

He has a tremendous record of environmentalism.

He is anti-mandate. Most people are not "anti-vaxxers", they are concerned about the government coercion involved with the covid vax.

Our corporations and economy depend on a stable global order. If the US isn't acting as the leader in maintaining that order in the form of helping countries affirm the integrity of their borders and having enough force to minimize the threat of domestic terrorism, no one else will. The result is a netowrk of strongment who actin a a borderless manner to rule. We are already seeing that emerge in Russia, China, Iran and North Korea, where those countries are taking land and threatening their neighbors through aggression.

So yes, in a perfect world with benevolent leaders everywhere, it would be great to reduce the defense spending and reduce the impact of the miltary-industrial complex. We don't live in a perfect world.

DP. This is exactly what I’ve come to realize in just the last few years. It’s a sad but very real reality. And this is the difference between young idealism based on a narrow slice of worldview (I was still there myself just a few years ago!) and older realism based on understanding the highly complex - and absolutely disheartening - bigger picture of how the world works.

Fortunately, he's siphoning votes from Trump. Donny boy is upset about this, too.

The RFK supporters I know are liberal hippy types who hate Trump. But they're stridently anti-vax so they love this guy. I don't think they care that he admits to having a malfunctioning brain.

RFK Jr just change his stance from anti-choice to pro-choice with zero limits.

+1

Stable Abel over here now supports abortion up to the point of birth for any reason. Which is not supported or practiced literally anywhere. https://thedeepdive.ca/does-rfk-jr-support-womens-right-to-abortion-even-if-its-full-term/

Once again the GOP’s crazy fingers are all over this. They don’t take democracy seriously.

A good source tells me Rfks internal polling numbers show he’s in single digits. It’s all hype. His support is soft at best. Still bad he’s running but he’s no where near where he claims.

It doesn’t make any difference. He’s just there to peel off enough Democratic voters, they hope. If he pulls 60,000-100,000 Democratic votes away from Biden, that might make the difference. Why else is there such a concerted effort by the GOP to push such a crazy nobody? They funded him, they’re holding him up.
