I am wondering how many kids are in your child's elementary class...kindergarten through third grade.
Please list your child's grade and number of kids in the class and the school. I am doing research about schools for my child who will enter kindergarten in a couple of years. |

last year:
1st: 24 3rd: 27 |
| 3rd: 28 |
| 28 in 1st, 25 in 2nd, and 31 in 3rd. |
|
This can vary greatly from year to year. I have taught 2nd and 3rd grade. In recent years my third grade classes have ranged from about 18-30 depending on the year.
Last year our kindergarten classes were all in the upper 20s. |
| Our school aims for 23-26. Any bigger and they add a teacher. |
How? HR only approves additional staff based on overall numbers. Those class sizes wouldn't make the cut in HR's eyes. |
No idea. A "typical" grade at our school has 5 teachers (the grades are about 120 kids) but whenever a "large" grade rolls thru, that grade gets a 6th class. Last year it was the 3rd grade, this year it will be the 4th. I thought the principal has some discretion about stuff like this? We are in LCPS. |
| Kindergarten: 24 |
Oh. That could be the difference. I'm in FCPS. |
| I have a rising 1st grader and rising 4th grader, all our classes over the years have been 23 kids or less. This is APS. |
| We have a cap of 20 per class (Ontario, Canada). I'm not sure if it's provincial or federal. |
| Kindergarten: 19-20 |
| We were in APS kindergarten. Ours had 24 kids in each class, with one teacher and one asst teacher. |
| Kindergarten: 17-19 Falls Church City, 1 teacher + 1 assistant teacher |
