My dad is able to get me a new HE furnace, AC compressor and tankless water heater at cost for the house I am buying (has 20 year old systems currently). I was initially super pumped, thinking we're saving thousands, but then I realized I will need to find someone to install it all for me. Does anyone have experience with sourcing JUST installation services for any of your home systems? I realize that I also need to have them come out and tell me the specs for the units before I have my dad order them as well. Thanks for any suggestions! |
Water heater you can probably hire a plumber to install. I'd be careful about the furnace and AC compressor though because a lot can go wrong. It's not like you just plug in different units/compressors expect to work like a new unit. |
Right, I completely intend to hire the appropriate personnel to complete the installations, I am just wondering how much I can expect to pay for installation only and if anyone has ideas about contractors or companies who may be open to completing the work. |
Try calling some hvac companies and see what they say.. I'm sure you can find someone to do it, but they may charge more because they are not getting the mark up from the components and/or offer a different warranty. I'd expect to pay a few thousand for installation. |
Good HVAC companies will do it. Be aware of the orphaned chimney issue if you are using a high efficiency gas furnace |
