West Elm Beds - quality?

Anonymous
We're thinking of buying a bed from West Elm. The Stria in honey, if it matters. Does anyone have any experience w/ how well this furniture holds up? We're looking to upgrade our Ikea furniture, now that we're 15 years out of college and have a touch of disposable income

Thanks!

Google search west elm beds and apartment therapy and you will see that west elm beds have a reputation for breaking during, ahem, activity.

I can't comment on the beds but my friend bought the dressers and they're shifting and coming apart after two years. They look like crap.

I'd say West Elm quality is similar to Ikea - just that you're paying extra for someone in china to assemble it for you, and for fancier retail experience.

That said, we have a west elm bed and night stands and they're in good shape 3 years later - just like the ikea furniture we have.

I would stretch and try to go for Ethan Allen if you can, just because the quality is better.
