Bob Ross Art

Anonymous
Is anyone here good with art? Our house is eclectic but still somewhat traditional. I have lots of impressionist art, charcoal drawings and some modern art. DH hates them all pretty much. He wants a painting of a forest and a lake. He really, really loves Bob Ross style paintings. (you know, the one that everyone would get high and watch on PBS?? ).

So I'm doing a large gallery on one wall and I'd like to include a painting he would like. Any recommendations without it looking too tacky? I pretty much dislike Bob Ross's paintings or anything that looks too realistic, but I'd like to get him one he likes as a gift.

Art is such a personal thing. I suggest going together to some of the fine art festivals and pick out something he likes (and you can live with).

Wow. OP, I had to do a double take to make sure this wasn't something I had written six months ago. I was in the exact same predicament - husband loves Bob Ross, and I don't. Check out Sylvia Angeli - she has a few beautiful somewhat abstract landscapes that bridged the gap between my love for more abstract, modern art and my husband's for more realistic landscapes.

Would your husband go for something like this? http://www.gallerydirect.com/art/product/sylvia-angeli/callow-creek

I should note these aren't actual paintings, but you can get canvas prints. Gallery Direct and ART.COM are both really good sources for this sort of thing if you don't want an original.
