Do you love your Counter-depth 48" Fridge?

Anonymous
I'm in the market, and caught between Jenn-Aire and Sub-zero -- but considering all applicants. Do you have one you love?

I have the sub zero and hate it. I would never get a counter depth fridge again. I spend more time walking out to the garage fridge. I don't care how nice it looks, how well it integrates into the kitchen, it just doesn't hold enough food.

! What would you do instead?!

We have a 42" GE Monogram fridge. We like it.

Not allow myself to be swayed by the kitchen designer. In the old house we had a large regular depth Samsung French door. It was fantastic. I never had to store large items in another fridge, plenty of space for everything, and it was taller.

so you lose that much space with a country depth fridge? thought they were just 3 inches less deep?
i'm about to get one so i'm interested. the ones i'm looking at are just 33 inches wide or so...they don't look much different than my current fridge.

Love our Thermador. Holds a lot.

I love our counter-depth. Yes, it's smaller, but in our old fridge, stuff just got lost in the back and rotted anyway. We do keep an old beater fridge in the basement for drinks and large items like party platters.

Ours is ok. Like tetrus trying to fit groceries in (we try to buy for the whole week). Would get it again b/c I love the way it looks, but I'd seriously consider not getting one if you have a large family.

It's easy enough to compare the square foot capacity of the counter depth vs. full depth. Unless you go wider, you are definitely going to lose some space. 48" sounds amazing if you have the wall space to hold it.

I don't know the width of my fridge, but I know it's counter depth. I hate stainless steel and wanted a fridge to match the cabinets.

I think it's too wide. I doesn't blend in as much as I wanted. I can still tell it's a fridge. It also still sticks out a little. I also don't fill it enough wit food - and I have boys and shop at Costco. I could have gone smaller (but I don't think there was paneled smaller)

I much prefer my paneled dishwasher, it blends in perfectly.

LOL. That WAS a lot of fridge-related-train-of-conscious.

I opted to go for a regular depth fridge with the cabinetry built out around it so it looks built in. We are so tired of our small crappy fridge and I thought I'd want to love a subzero but after looking at them I couldn't justify the higher price for less storage, higher energy consumption and lacking other features we liked. As long is it sits flush I'm happy. I even got a bonus broom/storage closet built out of the back side of the cabinetry after moving it forward to sit flush. We are a family of 6 and opening the fridge door on the 48 still underwhelmed me.
