Our hose sprayer is stuck on the hose -- looks like there may be some white stuff (hard water buildup??) between the threads of the hose and the sprayer's threads. Any advice? I've tried using wrenches to hold & turn, but it made just the tiniest bit of progress and stopped.

Liquid wrench.
Or at worst get a new hose. |
Thwack it hard against concrete a few times.
Also, lefty loosie, righty tighty.
WD40
Wow- same problem here! DH turned purple last weekend trying to get the sprayer off.
I am going to try WD40. Also, Liquid Wrench Penetrating Oil seems promising, according to the LW site.
A new hose is $10-$20 so don't spend more than that trying to save the old one. $5 for a new sprayer.
I have about 2-3 hoses that are throw always because I can't get the broken sprayers off. I don't understand how we can send people into space, but can't make hose connections that don't leak or work together.
If you have a good hose, don't throw away the garden hose. Just use a utility knife to cut off the end that is stuck, then buy a new attachment (less than $5) and "fix" the end of the hose. You'll lose a few inches of garden hose, but I doubt that's an issue for most people.
