| We are going to try out the trampoline park this weekend and aren't familiar with that area. Are there other cool things to do with a 4- and 7- year old nearby? It's a long drive so I'd like to take advantage of being in a different area and experience other activities. Any suggestions? Thanks! |

We went the other day. It was a lot of fun.
We're going again on a "staycation" and our plan for later in the day was going to be National Harbor. There's the capitol wheel, the carousel, paddle-boats and some fun stores and restaurants. I think there also might be a children's museum. |
Children's museum at National Harbor is closed. |
| Costco. That's about it. |
| There's really nothing right there (PP is right, just Costco), but within a 15-20 minute drive you can be in Kingstowne and go mini golfing/driving range at Top Golf, or Burke Lake and do the train/carousel/rent a boat/mini golf/feed ducks. |
| Burke lake Park is nice and pretty close to there (carousel, small train, mini golf, lake with nice shaded walking trail) |
Well, it is a pretty standard suburb, but I will try to be a little more helpful than this person. Lake accotink park is fun -- there's mini golf, paddle boats and a carousel there. Springfield mall is newly renovated -- the Chuys restaurant there is good for kids. I don't know what you consider near, but the sprayground at lee district rec center is huge and fantastic and free. Its probably a 15 minute drive from the trampoline park. |

There is a really fun glo in the dark indoor mini golf place that just opened near Whole Foods at the intersection of rolling road and Old Keene Mill Rd. That plaza has some local restaurants with sidewalk seating, a Starbucks and a Sweet Frog.
There are lots of parks out that way. Hidden Pond Nature Center has some easy hiking trails and a cute nature center/animal habitat area. It is just off Old Keene Mill Rd and Greeley. The new mall is nice. If you are out there on Saturday they have an outdoor farmers market from 10:00-2:00. |
This is relative. It's probably 10 miles further to Burke Lake. Agree that it's nice, though. If you want a fun restaurant for kids, like PP mentioned, Chuy's Tex-Mex at the Springfield Mall (which is also new but it's still just a mall) is a fun place to go. It's a chain based in Austin, TX. Lee District Sprayground is also fun but can get pretty crowded if it's hot. They have a limit on how many people can enter at once. |
| I was going to rec Lee District park as well, If the sprayground is too crowded, there is a cute playground. |

In the middle of the day, 10 miles to Burke Lake Park isn't much distance. And the train/carousel/mini golf there make it worth the drive, I think. (though if you're not a FFX resident, you might have to pay $10 to get in.)
Lee District Rec Center sprayground is a good call. |

Thanks everyone, we followed your advice and after the trampoline park we did lunch at Chuy's followed by a trip to the Lee District spray ground.
It was a great day! |
