My DS was admitted for Pre-K....and now we have THE big decision to make. I have searched the archives and overall most of the posts are heresay or about the "reputation". I would love to hear from current or former parents, neighbors or persons that have a direct observation or first hand knowledge that they would like to share. Thanks in Advance.

Why would you move him from what you both know & love, to the unknown?

I am not the original poster but I am in the same situation and I think the answer is this:

If you live in a public school district where the public kindergarten is not a viable option, you are in a better position of making a move when lucky enough to get a pre-K spot in an OOB or charter school vs. waiting to do so in kindergarten when the spots are much more scarce. Therefore, like OP I am moving my son from a preschool we/he loves as insurance that he has a good school to attend subsequently. And the financial advantage (i.e. free) is nothing to sneeze at.

By and large I hear good things about Two Rivers. Having said that, I know they lost a few students to Yu Ying (but so did EL Haynes, Lafayette, Janney, Aiden Montessori, and Lowell among others - so it's not necessarily a strike against them).

Every school has it's issues, however I would send my kid to preK at Two rivers without hesitation. It's a fun, exciting environment, with "specials" that you may not get at other Hill public schools. You can always put your child back into an independent school if issues arise later.

I know at least 3 families who are leaving after the 4th grade year. What are the upper grades like at Two Rivers?

Previous TR parent, where are your kid(s) now?

To Previous 2R Parent, why are you a former parent?

I've heard that it's kind of a cult.

It was more like 8-9 families this year, and in previous years a few families left after 4th grade. Most parents left because of lack of academic challenge, and too many disruptions/un-checked bullying from behaviorally challenged students. Kids entering in PS and PK would not have the same problems. There seems to be a stream of kids from many Hill schools, not just Two Rivers, leaving for Washington Latin.

I only know families in the lower grades, but I've heard good things from them about the school.
