Do I really need a doctor's note to get through TSA?
Is it ok to toss used needles in the hotel bin without a sharps container, or should I bring my used needles home with me? (I found some great threads on here with tips on how to inject yourself with PIO. Thanks to those earlier posters.) |
| I've traveled several times with needles and have never been asked for a doctors note. I also take a small sharps container. |
It's not safe to dispose of needles in regular trash. If you can, use sharps container. If not, I would leave them on the sink in the hotel, so that the cleaning staff can dispose of them properly as opposed to hurting themselves inadvertently by emptying out regular trash bin. |

Yikes, bring your sharps container with you.
Or wrap them up in something they won't poke out from, and dispose of them at home in your sharps container. Do not make a housekeeper at a hotel deal with this sort of mess. |
| You can put them in a used soda (not water unless it's dasani) or a similarly hard plastic bottle. |
| I brought a note, but was never asked for it. I had a little travel kit that I kept everything in. When I was done with the needle I just capped it and put it in my travel kit. With the cap on, I wasn't worried about stabbing myself. Once I got home, I threw away the needle. (The syringe part I threw away at the hotel.) |
Omfg. Do not ever leave a used needle for ANYONE ELSE to dispose of. Pack a travel size sharps container and/or bring them home with you and dispose of them properly. |
