I planted a golden trumpet vine 5 years ago

It just bloomed for the first time, common orange red color. Does the golden trumpet have the same base type root stock as ornamental roses? I feel cheated...

Are you talking about Campis radicans or something else?

Things get mislabeled at nurseries. Unless you have the receipt and want to wait 5 more years there isn't much you can do.

You can get those in bloom at a nursery and they grow very fast. They are pretty inexpensive. Just pick one up next year. The one you have now will be hard to get out and you may have to poison it.

Where are you? Most places carry these in 3 gal containers(5-6 tall). Yep it is weird it took so long to bloom. A 5 year old plant most people are hacking back.
