We appear to have some bees who have found their way into the garage wall. All sources are telling me to get a beekeper due to declining populations, etc. Also to open the wall and remove any comb bc otherwise bees will come back, and/or other critters will be attracted and we'll wind up with a bigger problem.
Anyone done this lately? Would you just call terminix? No serious allergies so while it's high on the to do list it's not life or death. |
They are probably carpenter bees. They don't have stingers so they're easy to take care of. Plug the holes where they are getting in. |
No, I wouldn't call terminix. I'd call an apiarist, because I'm not a sociopath. |
Do a quick search for your local county's beekeeping association and send them an email. If you're in the DC area, I know the Montgomery Conty and DC beekeepers associations are very active. They'll have lots of beekeepers who are interested in capturing your bees. |
Are you sure they are honey bees? Most are not. |
Here's how to get rid of them:

Yes they do. I've asked two different bee keepers. They're not aggressive, unless you attack the hive, but they indeed sting. |
