getting smudges off wood kitchen cupboards

Anonymous
So we are moving into a new place and the kitchen units are wood. All around the handle to open the wood doors are marks and stains and stickiness from their being opened by someone with dirty kitchen hands.

I spent about 30 minutes on these today and made very little progress. Used spray and wipe first and then dish scrub sponges and dish soap. Can anyone recommend something that can actually get these doors clean as I am clearly not using the right techniques / cleaning appliances.

ug ug.

I really like orange glo for this. Another option is murphy's oil soap, but I personally don't care for the scent

Oh yeah or Simple Green or Good Be Gone. Murphy's is a good recommendation. I was also thinking about those magic erasers although not sure how they work on wood finishes. What kind of dish soap? Dawn does the best with dissolving grease and is gentle.

Murphy's is the usual go to for cleaning wood cabinets. I think the PP meant Goo Be Gone; I've never used it for dirt, mostly just stickers. Stuff is pretty harsh. I would be careful using Magic Erasers; they work great but they might strip the finish. After you clean the cabinets, you then want to oil them to restore the shine. The handles probably could also use a good cleaning.

Yes it is Goo Be Gone. And yes I am assuming the OP will read the packaging before deciding what to try. Just throwing out options.

Briwax. You will need to use a lot of elbow grease, but it works great.
