Preschool = daycare person

Jeff - if you ever have some spare time, would you mind going through all the posts on the daycare/preschool forum where someone says something along the lines of "that's not pre-school, it's all day, so it's daycare!" and let us know if it's the same person every time? It's so irritating and adds nothing to the conversation yet if it's the same person, she says it every. single. time. I'm so curious if it's one person or multiple people who have this weird hang up about what preschool is or is not.

Seriously? I'm sure Jeff has about 10,000 better things to do with his time.

I haven't written that, but I do believe that that is the generally the way people use those two terms. I don't think that there is any implied difference in quality between daycare and preschool.

Yeah, I'm not the one writing that all the time, but preschool that lasts all day is daycare. When someone says 'preschool' to me I think half day or less and to use those terms incorrectly might get confusing. Why is it such a big deal to you?

Who cares?

NP here, and it's true: daycare is all day until 6 PM or so and pre-school is a morning program until noon or do. No judgment. Just fact.

Yep, I've posted this before but not in a few months. It's true. Why does this get people so annoyed?

I don't get it either. So many of the women in my office claim their child is in "school.". You aren't fooling me or anyone. We all know it is daycare. Two year olds don't attend school!!

Why don't you go through and link the posts for him?
-a person who also thinks daycare is all day and preschool is partial day

I just posted on that thread about my confusion with the question, I had to read a couple of times to figure out what OP was talking about. Preschool is half day or part time, daycare is full day care for working parents or children that need care all day.
It is a bit much when someone claims their 6 month old just got dropped off at "the best" school and is learning so much.

Hence the "if you ever have some free time" part.

OP here - okay then, well now I know the answer, and Jeff didn't have to do any of the work. There are many of you!

Honest question - why isn't your precious little preschool just called half-daycare?
