Camp grounds somewhere between here and NYC?

We are planning to meet up with some friends for Labor Day and were hoping to camp out somewhere between our two cities.
A quick look online tells me there are a bunch of state parks in PA and NJ that seem nice. French Creek State Park? Or Lake Nockamixon State Park? Or Elk Neck State Park? Have any of you visited any of those? Or any other recommendations or suggestions on where we should check out? Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks! |

| I have been to Elk Neck, it is a fine state Park. Every State park I have been to in PA has been really nice. I would also recommend Wharton State Forest in NJ, is nice and has a nice lake, beach. |

| My husband camped at Susquehanna State Park and fished at the Conowingo Dam a couple of years ago and enjoyed it. It's very close to 95. |
